Relationship between job satisfaction and job selection factors among dental hygienist -Based on dental hygienists who graduated college in Metropolitan Area

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide the dental hygienists with information to improve job satisfaction through a proper job selection in Korea. We analyzed the job satisfaction among the dental hygienists depend on their job selections factors.
Methods: The survey was conducted to dental hygienists who graduated from a dental hygiene school in Metropolitan Area by an e-mail in 2008. 179 dental hygienists of the requested by an e-mail have completed the questionnaire and replied us. The frequency analysis and Chi-squire test were conducted to analyze the data.
Results: Job satisfaction was significantly related to working experience, period of working at a current position, scale of working place, income, satisfaction of income, marital status, and having children among the dental hygienists(p<0.05). The dental hygienists were affected to job satisfaction when they select the job because of income, employee welfare, distance from home, scale of working place, interesting field, and relationship between works. The dental hygienists job satisfaction was affected by interesting field(3.91), employee welfare(3.68), income(3.25), distance from home(3.23), relationship between works(3.0), and scale of working place(2.83) order.
Conclusions: According to this study, factors of job selection affected to job satisfaction among the dental hygienists. For this reason the dental hygienist should consider their concern and employee welfare in getting a job to work with atisfaction at their own work place.
